Lucie Arnaz approves of Aaron Sorkin's 'Being the Ricardos': 'It's friggin' amazing'

The most important review of a biographical drama comes from either the subject or the subject's loved ones.

In that regard, Aaron Sorkin just scored big.

Lucie Arnaz Luckinbill, the daughter of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, celebrated the 70th anniversary of "I Love Lucy" hitting the air by sharing her approval for "Being the Ricardos," directed and written by Sorkin.

The 70-year-old, who is an entertainer in her own right, said the following, in part:

"I finally saw the film. You know the one I'm talking about, right? The Aaron Sorkin-written and -directed, Amazon film starring Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem as my parents. You know that one? I finally saw it. It's friggin' amazing. That guy made a great movie. What can I tell you? He captured the essence of that time in their lives so well. He captured the heart of my mother, my father, their relationship. He captured the love between those players on the 'I Love Lucy' show. The tension that was brought on in this particular week, when all hell broke loose.

"And Nicole Kidman became my mother's soul. She crawled into her head. I don't know how you do it. She cared very deeply about this part. It shows. And I believed everything she said. She looks beautiful. Thank God they didn't do exact lookalikes. I couldn't have taken it.

"Javier Bardem, you know,  he really doesn't look that much like my dad. They have a different profile and just body shape and stuff, but he has everything that Dad had. He has his wit, his charm, his dimples, his musicality. He has his strength and tenacity, and you can tell from the performance that he just loved him. And that's what you needed."

Arnaz and Ball portrayed Ricky Ricardo and Lucy Ricardo on "I Love Lucy" from 1951-57. They were married in real life for 20 years until their 1960 divorce, and they shared Lucie as well as son Desi Arnaz Jr. Arnaz died in 1986, Ball in 1989.
