MAGIC: THE GATHERING and FINAL FANTASY Crossover Reveals Commander Decks_1
Square Enix/Wizards of the Coast
The Magic/Final Fantasy crossover will be a fully draftable, standard-legal set accompanied by the four preconstructed decks in the gallery above. It will consist of 100 cards, both reprints of existing cards along with newly commissioned Final Fantasy art, as well as new cards designed with Magic’s most popular format, Commander. Each Commander precons will be built around a single Final Fantasy game. In this case, Final Fantasy 6, 7, 10, and 14. The revealed cards include Terra from Final Fantasy VI, Tidus from Final Fantasy X, Y’shtola from Final Fantasy XIV, and Cloud from Final Fantasy VII. Although these Commander Decks center on just four games, the rest of the set will showcase all 16 Final Fantasy games.
Special features include the following:
Saga Creatures – Summons are making an appearance in this set, as part of Magic: The Gathering’s first-ever Saga creatures. Players can call the summons for aid in battle.
Double-Faced Cards – Double-faced cards return in Magic: The Gathering—Final Fantasy. By casting the front side of the card for its mana cost and fulfilling its required conditions, players can transform it to experience its alternate form. Iconic Final Fantasy characters, minigames, story moments, and more are represented on double-faced cards throughout the set.
The Magic: The Gathering/Final Fantasy crossover launches June 13.
