Mark Hoppus shares first photo of 'giant bald head' during cancer battle

Mark Hoppus is trying to remain in high spirits after his  June 23 announcement that he has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.

The blink-182 bassist and vocalist has been sharing quippy updates on his battle, though he has yet to disclose what type of cancer he was diagnosed with, referring to himself as "The Cancer Haver" and sharing for the first time a photo of his "giant bald head":

Hoppus's lighter commentary follows his admission that "it sucks and I'm scared" when he publicly disclosed the news:

The 49-year-old's former blink-182 bandmates, Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge, were among the first to voice their support. Barker told E! News of his intention to "be with him every step of the way on stage and off," while DeLonge posted the below tweet:

Hoppus founded blink-182 around San Diego, California, in 1992 alongside DeLonge and then-drummer Scott Raynor. Barker replaced Raynor in 1998. DeLonge permanently left the trio in 2015, and it was a very messy breakup

Hoppus separately joined forces with All Time Low's Alex Gaskarth to form Simple Creatures in January 2019.
