Matthew McConaughey Has Message for Texas Before SEC Championship Game

There may not be a bigger Texas Longhorns fan than famous actor Matthew McConaughey, and he’ll have the chance to cheer them on today in their biggest game of the season. The Longhorns are set to take on the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs in Atlanta, Georgia, for the SEC Championship.

If Texas can pull off a win, they would claim the title in their first season in the conference and secure a first-round bye in the College Football Playoffs. Georgia, on the other hand, would also earn a bye with a victory.

When these two teams met earlier this season, it was all Georgia. McConaughey was there to witness the Bulldogs dominate, forcing the Longhorns into four turnovers and securing a 30-15 win that handed Texas their only loss of the year.

But now, ahead of this high-stakes rematch, McConaughey—known for his acting chops and iconic wordplay—shared a quick message of motivation for the Longhorns as they prepare for Saturday's showdown.

It's the most anticipated matchup of the weekend, and the stakes couldn't be higher. While both teams are already locked into the College Football Playoffs, this game still carries significant weight.

Not only are both teams vying for the SEC Championship, but the winner will also earn a coveted first-round bye, providing some extra time to rest and get healthy—something Texas in particular could greatly benefit from.

The game is set to kickoff at 4 p.m. EST, and despite their loss earlier in the season and playing in Atlanta—where the crowd will likely be predominantly Georgia fans—Texas enters as the slight betting favorite, favored by 2.5 points according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
