Mick Jagger remembers Charlie Watts at St. Louis show: 'We all miss Charlie so much'

The Rolling Stones kicked off their U.S. No Filter Tour in St. Louis on Sunday, and it marked their first-ever tour without drummer Charlie Watts.

"I just want to say that it's quite emotional seeing those images of Charlie up on the screen," Stones frontman Mick Jagger told the crowd, referencing a video montage of the late drummer that had kicked off the evening, per Rolling Stone's Andy Greene. “This is our first tour that we’ve ever done without him."

Jagger continued: "The reaction from you guys, everything you've said and we've heard from you, has been really touching. And I want to thank you very much for all your appreciation. We all miss Charlie so much, on the stage and off the stage, and we’d love to dedicate this tour to Charlie. Here’s to you, Charlie!"

Watts died Aug. 24 at 80 years old. He previously announced Aug. 4 that he would not participate in the No Filter Tour and instead take more time to recover from a medical procedure. Steve Jordan was asked to fill in.

Watts was the Stones' drummer since 1963, present for the band's entire discography alongside Jagger and Keith Richards.
