Netflix shares teaser for 'Wednesday' season 2 starring Jenna Ortega

Is there a better day to drop new Wednesday content than on a Wednesday? Surely not, and Netflix is spoiling us today with a new teaser, first look photos, and official release dates for both parts of the second season.

Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.

Creator/showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are back, alongside executive producer and director Tim Burton. The cast includes Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Steve Buscemi, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Isaac Ordonez, Joy Sunday, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah B. Taylor, and Hunter Doohan.

"The most exciting thing is being able to revisit her," Ortega, who stars as the title character and is a producer this season, told TUDUM. "Wednesday Addams is one of the coolest characters of all time, so to have gotten the opportunity to play her once was incredible, and then to be able to slip into the costume and tone again, it’s so much fun. She runs circles around everyone that she has a conversation with, so to play someone who’s so much more intelligent than you will ever be, it’s quite funny and strange and enjoyable."

Gough added, "Season 1 really focused on Wednesday, but you met the other characters but didn’t get to know them, and now we get to expand their storylines and expand the scope and breadth of the show."

Guest stars for this season include Jamie McShane, Joanna Lumley, Joonas Suotamo, Fred Armisen, Christopher Lloyd, Thandiwe Newton, Heather Matarazzo, and Frances O'Connor.

"Nothing is what it seems in Season 2," Millar expressed. "Wednesday goes into this season thinking she knows Nevermore. It’s the first time she’s returned to a school willingly. But as soon as she gets back, nothing happens that she’s expecting. She thinks she’s going to be in control, that she knows where all the bodies are buried, and she doesn’t."

Part 1, which will consist of the first four episodes, will be released August 6. The final four episodes of season 2 will premiere with Part 2 on September 3.
