New character posters for 'Superman' arrive featuring David Corenswet, Isabela Merced, and more

As we eagerly wait for James Gunn's Superman to land in theaters this July, Warner Bros. Pictures just dropped new posters of the DC character featuring David Corenswet as Superman, Krypto, Alan Tudyk as Superman Robot #4, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.

In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.

The rest of the cast includes Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Anthony Carrigan, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Mariìa Gabriela de Fariìa, Wendell Pierce, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell. Fingers crossed we get another round of new posters with them soon!

"There is an amazing, solemn responsibility to be the person to play this character. And there’s no guarantee that I would have had a more interesting career if I hadn’t," Corenswet told TIME. "I know a lot of fantastic actors, better than I am, who may never be seen by more than an audience of 50 or 100 people at a regional theater."

DC Studios heads Gunn and Peter Safran produce with Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo, and Lars Winther executive producing.

"Superman is an enormous bear of a movie," Gunn, who also wrote the screenplay, expressed to The Hollywood Reporter. "Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, David Corenswet is going to freak everyone out with how great he is. He is one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with, and he can do everything. The man is incredible."

DC Studios' first feature film debuts on July 11.
