Highlander, the new film from the John Wick director, starts filming soon, but Chad Stahelski is also set to return to his signature universe in a new upcoming series titled John Wick: The High Table.
The action series from Lionsgate will be executive-produced by Keanu Reeves, with Stahelski directing the pilot episode, as per Deadline, who broke the news.
Robert Levine, the creator behind The Old Man, will pen the screenplay, with Deadline reporting that the series picks up after John Wick: Chapter 4, with further details mentioning that:
John Wick has left the world of the High Table in a tenuous position, and a collection of new characters will look to make a name for themselves while some of the franchise stalwart characters remain committed to the old-world order.
Stahelski will executive produce the series through his 87Eleven Entertainment, and Levine will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
One thing worth noting is that, for now, Reeves has no plans to return to act in the series. The project will "combine new and old and thrust the Wick universe into a new age".
This isn't the only John Wick project on the table for Stahelski, who signed a deal with Lionsgate to oversee the handling and creative of the John Wick franchise across mediums. John Wick: Chapter 5 is also in development, but currently, no confirmed talent is attached.
