Caitlin Clark once made 22 points in just a span of two minutes, and she admits that no one would believe it, for one simple reason.

In her guest appearance for an episode of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman” on Netflix, Caitlin Clark opened up to host David Letterman about one instance where she was able to pull off 22 points in just two minutes.

“Nobody knows if it actually happened because nobody saw it,” Clark said. “So we have a practice team that’s just all guys, they have to be students at the university. They basically just volunteer their time. I think we were down 15, so we, like, make a couple of threes, we cut it to like 10.”

“It was me, but the points went to the Iowa Hawkeyes,” Clark said when asked if the threes were only by hers, or the entire team. “So I think I had 22 points in two minutes, was the moral of the story.”

“It was funny because we had a high school girls’ basketball team there that day. So, we had a little audience, and we were up in our practice gym, and they were, like, jumping out of their chairs, going crazy.”

Caitlin Clark is celebrated for her exceptional three-point shooting ability, which has become a defining feature of her basketball career. During her time at Iowa, she consistently showcased her range, often hitting shots from well beyond the arc, earning her comparisons to NBA sharpshooters like Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard.

Clark’s three-point prowess continued into her WNBA career with the Indiana Fever, where she set rookie records for three-pointers made in a single season.

In the same interview, Caitlin Clark also opened up about her relationship with Indiana Fever teammate Aliyah Boston.

“Aliyah Boston’s been great to play with, obviously,” she said about her WNBA teammate. “ It was cool. She had been through everything that I was gonna go through just the year prior, so it was nice to have her on the team and be close to her.”

“I think our chemistry grew so much over the course of the year. It probably will continue to grow, too.”

During her rookie season with the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and a league-leading 8.4 assists per game. She shot with a 41.7% field goal percentage, 34.4% from three-point range, 90.6% from the free-throw line.
