Pierce Brosnan signs off on 'great' potential future James Bond

Now that Amazon has bought Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson out of their creative control over James Bond, speculation on who will replace Daniel Craig as 007 can continue apace once more. Replacing Craig has been a task sitting unattended for years, but now that Amazon can do what they please with the franchise (for better or worse), one assumes a name will be be announced soon enough. Dare we say, before 2025 is out?

Some names have been speculated on as the next Bond for years already, and those names haven't gone anywhere. Also, with erstwhile Bonds still around, it only makes sense for those actors to be asked about who should be next. To that end, Pierce Brosnan was willing to throw his support behind one of those oft-bandied names: Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Brosnan has been out and about promoting his new TV show "MobLand," and when a former Bond is doing promotional rounds, it only makes sense for people to ask him about Bond, especially with the franchise back in the news. Of course, ask Craig about Bond at your own peril, but Brosnan has always been copacetic about the whole thing.

The idea of Taylor-Johnson being the next Bond came up in one of these interviews, and Brosnan was on board with that idea. "I think if he wished it, wanted it and got it, he would be great," he said. Brosnan also said he played a role in casting Taylor-Johnson in the 2009 film "The Greatest," so he's long been a fan of the actor.

Taylor-Johnson does feel like a plausible Bond. Though he plays a villainous character in "Bullet Train," if you want that movie you can see something Bond-esque in him. Plus, it's not like he's going to be busy playing Kraven again anytime soon. The only concern some have is that Taylor-Johnson is turning 35 in 2025. Amazon may want a younger actor. If so, well, Brosnan may be disappointed.
