Raven? How 'Twisted Metal' Season 2 Hilariously Explained a Massive Casting Change

When Twisted Metal Season 1 debuted two years ago, longtime fans of the popular video games were a bit befuddled by the existence of the character Raven. In the classic games, Raven was a goth teenager who seemed to have magical powers. But in Twisted Metal Season 1, Raven was a more buttoned-up gal, played by film legend Neve Campbell. She was great in the role, but now in Season 2, with clever recasting. In the very first episode of Twisted Metal Season 2, Raven is now played by Marvel star Patty Guggenheim, but this isn't the same Raven from Season 1. Spoilers ahead.

Twisted Metal Season 2 Raven twist, explained 

Right at the top of Twisted Metal Season 2, we start with a flashback to 1998, which establishes a teenage version of Raven (Halle Tator) who is , aesthetically, a lot closer to how '90s kids might remember her from the games. This Raven is, we learn, the primary Raven, who, in the present, is played by Patty Guggenheim.

While keeping John (Anthony Mackie) captive, Raven explains that there are several other Ravens, all of which do her bidding. Neve Campbell was Alpha Raven. We also see two other Ravens: Beta Raven (Jessica Embro), and Gamma Raven (Siobhan Macdonald), who our new Prime Raven gives orders to.

So, with a bit of retroactive continuity, Twisted Metal has not only explained a recasting, but introduced a whole extra layer to the show.

Twisted Metal Season 2 episode release schedule 

Twisted Metal is releasing Season 2 episodes in different blocks. As of now, the first three episodes are available on Peacock. Here's how the rest of the release schedule shakes out.
