Breakout star of Reacher Season 3, Sonya Cassidy, will join the Star Trek franchise in a way that fans of either Reacher or Trek could have predicted. As revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, Cassidy will join the voice cast of a first-of-its-kind audio drama series, Star Trek: Khan . The character she'll play is named Dr. Rosalind Lear, a historian who digs up some lost logs from the famous villain, Khan Noonien Singh, who, in this version, will be played by Naveen Andrews, most famous for his role in Lost.

Star Trek: Khan Trailer

Because Star Trek: Khan is an audio series — AKA a scripted podcast — the new trailer for the series is a variety of artwork, depicting the different characters. You're not going to see Khan, Sulu, or Sonya Cassidy's new character, Dr. Lear, on screen, because there is no screen!

This is an audiodrama, but one that doesn't adapt an old Star Trek story, but instead, tells a brand new one, all about Khan's exile that led up to the events of the famous 1982 movie, The Wrath of Khan.

Star Trek: Khan Release Date

The new podcast series, Star Trek: Khan, will hit a variety of podcast platforms on September 8, 2025. Incidentally, that date is the celebration known as "Star Trek Day," commemorating the first day that the show aired in 1966.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan streams on Paramount+ and MGM+.
