Seth MacFarlane struck gold with 2012 raunchy comedy Ted , starring Mark Wahlberg as a man shocked to see his childhood wish come true for his beloved teddy bear to come to life. The original was followed by a slightly less well-received sequel Ted 2 in 2015.
As it turns out, people still want more Ted.
The Hollywood Reporter's Lesley Goldberg reported Thursday (June 10) that a live-action Ted prequel television series has been given "a 10-episode, straight-to-series order" at Peacock, who confirmed the news:

Here's more context from Goldberg:
"MacFarlane is attached to pen the script and exec produce the series. It’s unclear what format the series will take. A multicamera comedy was rumored to be the take Rovner and MacFarlane discussed, but that has not yet been locked in. MacFarlane is currently focused on the long-delayed third season of Fox-turned-Hulu dramedy The Orville, which he created, stars in and showruns."
MacFarlane, the co-creator of Family Guy and American Dad!, is also "near a deal" to reprise his voiceover role as Ted, too.
