Taylor Swift isn't submitting 'Fearless (Taylor's Version)' for to CMAs or Grammys

Fearless did well enough on its own.

Billboard exclusively reported Wednesday morning (July 21) that Taylor Swift has decided to withhold Fearless (Taylor's Version) from consideration at the next CMA Awards and Grammy Awards.

"After careful consideration, Taylor Swift will not be submitting Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in any category at this year’s upcoming Grammy and CMA Awards," an anonymous Republic Records representative shared in a statement. "Fearless has already won four Grammys including album of the year, as well as the CMA Award for album of the year in 2009/2010 and remains the most awarded country album of all time."

"The statement goes on to add that Swift’s ninth studio album, Evermore, released in December 2020, will be submitted to the Grammys for consideration in all eligible categories," Billboard's Melinda Newman relayed. "Swift’s decision leaves room for voters to focus on Evermore, rather than potentially split their votes between the two projects."

Fearless was first released as Swift's sophomore studio album in 2008. Taylor's Version is the re-recording of that album, plus six never-before-heard tracks, released in April. The 31-year-old revolutionary singer-songwriter is re-recording her earlier works after the masters to her first six albums were sold first in June 2019 and again last November.

Swift revealed last month that Red, her fourth studio album from 2012, is next on the list:

Swift is an 11-time Grammy winner, most recently claiming album of the year with Folklore in March.

Evermore's presumed recognition—let's be real, it will at least win once—at the next Grammy Awards would serve as a bookend to the insane 16-month period from August 2019 to last December that birthed Lover, Folklore and Evermore, all three of which debuted at No. 1.
