After the explosive season 2 finale of Hulu's Tell Me Lies, fans are on the edge of their seat for the upcoming season, which was announced back in December. Tom Ellis, who is married to showrunner Meghan Oppenheimer, has just confirmed that the 2008 timeline will include more of Bree's storyline with Oliver.
"I'm going back. I'm actually going there on Saturday to start shooting," Ellis told PEOPLE. He has already read the first four episodes and says that fans will "not be disappointed," adding, "It is as dark, toxic, and funny as ever, and just when you thought our characters couldn't do anything more ridiculous to themselves, they ended up doing it."
He continues to explain, "I've got to be honest, the focus isn't so much on my character this season, but it still plays very much into the Bree storyline." Bree is played by Catherine Missal, and the rest of the cast includes Grace Van Patten, Jackson White, Sonia Mena, Spencer House, Branden Cook, and Thomas Doherty.
"I think, thankfully, I've left Oliver behind now. But no... I felt really dark at the end of it," the actor expressed. "I felt dark because I'd been part of telling that story. And yeah, I did need to kind of just remind myself of who I am and all those things."
Oppenheimer commented that she believes there would "probably be a time jump" in the third season, explaining to Variety, "We will still have some 2008 because there’s stuff that we have to wrap up there. But I think it would be a little bit shifted in the sense that there will probably be more 2015 than 2008."
All episodes of the first and second seasons are streaming. The series is based on Carola Lovering's bestselling book of the same title.
