Toronto punk rockers PUP are one of the best bands working in that particular genre space these days. Although, if we're being honest, their last album (2022's "The Unraveling of PUPTheBand") was kind of middling. That being said, their prior two albums "The Dream is Over" and especially "Morbid Stuff" rip. We defy you to be anything less than hyped when "If This Tour Doesn't Kill You, I Will" kicks it into high gear:
PUP has a new album in the offing, "Who Will Look After the Dogs" that will be released on May 2. The windup to album releases can be awfully long these days, and to that end PUP has already dropped a new music video for a song from said album, "Hallways."
The song is emo-adjacent but still features the kinetic punk edge that PUP exists within. It's not exactly cheery, lyrically speaking, but it does contain the titular lyric that names the album. Also, there's actual ambition to the music video, which is always nice in the era of "lyric videos."
If you aren't familiar with PUP, but you like tuneful punk with a mordant sensibility, give "Hallways" a listen and go from there.
