Tributes pour in for Louie Anderson after death from blood cancer

Louie Anderson was hospitalized in Las Vegas for treatment on his diffuse large B-cell lymphoma — a type of blood cancer — earlier this week, as confirmed by his rep to Rolling Stone.

Sadly, days later, the 68-year-old actor, comedian and game show host has died.

Anderson was beloved industry-wide and so bold in his choices that he won a Primetime Emmy for his "Baskets" role of Christine Baskets, a mother to twins played by Zach Galifianakis. He claimed two Daytime Emmys for "Life with Louie," his animated comedy that he created and starred in during the 1990s.

Anderson's other memorable roles include "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1986), "Coming to America" ('88) and "Coming 2 America" (2021). His most recent of many stand-up comedy specials was "Louie Anderson: Big Underwear" in 2018.

The mark Anderson made on and off the screen or stage is evident today. Below, see a sample of the loving tributes pouring out from Hollywood and across the internet.
