His family wrote on Ozzy's social pages:
It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis
Osbourne’s influence spanned generations, genres, and arenas. His final public performance took place just weeks ago in Birmingham, a farewell concert to remember and recognize a legendary career.
In 2021, Osbourne was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Because WWE was operating in the COVID Thunderdome era, his induction had to be delivered via video. It was unfortunate that fans didn't get a chance to see what would have been a memorable live speech. He was unpredictable, and his charisma and humor would have been perfectly suited to that environment.
That he was recognized by WWE and inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame provides evidence that he made multiple significant contributions to the company and the wrestling industry. From managing The British Bulldogs at WrestleMania 2 to providing the cold opening for Survivor Series: WarGames in 2022, he'd been a part of the shows for nearly 40 years. He was a guest host on Monday Night Raw in 2009, and he performed live on SmackDown in 2007.
Osbourne’s influence also extended beyond direct WWE involvement. In a video shared on our @SportsterNews account on X, legendary tag team The Road Warriors famously used a re-arranged version of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” as their entrance theme in the AWA during the mid-1980s.
Tributes have poured in from around the world, and it's likely WWE pays homage to Ozzy throughout the week, starting tonight on NXT.
We send our condolences to family and friends and fans who will miss the iconic Ozzy Osbourne.
