The Wisconsin football team recently hosted one of their top recruiting targets during their intriguing win over Nebraska in overtime.

Trey McNutt, a four-star corner back in the 2025 recruiting class, was in attendance for the Wisconsin football victory this past weekend. McNutt is considered to be one of the best defensive backs in the 2025 class and currently holds 32 scholarship offers. The Badgers would be ecstatic if they were able to land McNutt due to his current ties to Ohio State.

Wisconsin Football Hosts 2025 Four-Star Trey McNutt During Overtime Nebraska Win

Wisconsin football will officially go bowling this season after defeating the Nebraska Cornhuskers in overtime, 24-17. The Badgers also took home the Freedom Trophy and received a chance to celebrate with it following their come from behind win.

As Wisconsin won the game, four-star defensive back Trey McNutt had his chance to celebrate with the team. McNutt had visited Madison in March to meet with the staff and experience the campus but had not expressed intentions of a second visit at the time. A day before the clash against the Huskers, McNutt announced he would attend the game and visit Madison once again.

Currently, McNutt is ranked as the seventh overall corner back in the 2025 recruiting class, and the top-ranked player in Ohio. McNutt is officially ranked as a corner back on Rivals but has experience playing in the slot and as a deep safety as well. The talented athlete also has plenty of experience playing as a wide receiver and gadget player on offense, with 477 total yards and seven touchdowns.

The athlete is considered to be one of the most versatile players in the 2025 recruiting class due to his ability to play multiple positions on each side of the ball. Wisconsin football began recruiting McNutt while he was still outside of the top 100 recruits nationally. Now, McNutt is currently sitting in the 55th overall ranking nationally, which would make him the highest-rated Wisconsin football target.

Can the Wisconsin Badgers Football Staff Land a Commitment From Trey McNutt?

Wisconsin football has been deeply interested in landing McNutt, but it will certainly be an uphill battle to land the recruit. As stated previously, McNutt holds 32 scholarship offers and has been in close contact with Ohio State, Penn State, and Notre Dame thus far. The recruit has also visited each school multiple times now which he has not done with any other programs.

McNutt has shown no signs of being anywhere close to a commitment thus far, which means Wisconsin football will need to be in it for the long haul. Landing McNutt would be a massive boost for Wisconsin football and the culture they are building. However, it will take quite a lot of work for the Badgers to accomplish that goal.
