Derek Jeter was simply a different type of baseball player.
The star shortstop played his entire career with the New York Yankees and had more than his fair share of legendary moments.
One of those moments came in 2014, when Jeter was playing in his final All-Star Game at Target Field.
Jeter led off for the American League All-Star squad in the bottom of the first inning, facing St. Louis Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright.
Jeter connected on a 1-0 pitch from the Cardinals veteran right-hander and sent it into the corner in right field for a leadoff double.
Jeter was removed from the game in the fourth inning, but left to a standing ovation.
On Twitter, a Yankees fan posted a video of Jeter’s accomplishments during the game.
The Hall-of-Famer and five-time World Series champion was more than just a great ballplayer.
He was somebody who simply commanded a ton of respect.
As seen in the video, Jeter, a 14-time All-Star, received an ovation when he came to the plate for the first time.
Even the players on the field for the National League squad, including Wainwright, stood and clapped for the Yankees legend.
The American Leaguers would go on to win the game by a final of 5-3 and secure home-field advantage in the World Series, and Jeter earned All-Star MVP honors.
Jeter also won five Gold Gloves, five Silver Slugger Awards, an AL Rookie of the Year Award, and a World Series MVP Award.
To this day, the Yankees legend is revered across the baseball world.
