The Cleveland Indians are in the midst of an incredible winning streak, now having won an American League-record-tying 20 games after Tuesday’s 2-0 shutout victory over the Detroit Tigers. And the team’s mascot, Slider, doesn’t want fans to miss out on the chance to witness history on Wednesday.

The Indians’ official Twitter account posted an “excuse note” from Slider so fans can get out of work, school, etc. to take in the team’s possibly history-making tilt against the Tigers Wednesday at Progressive Field.

Tuesday’s win had the Indians tying the 2002 Oakland Athletics for the longest winning streak in American League history. The A’s took to Twitter to congratulate the Indians on the remarkable feat.

The Indians’ official Twitter account clearly is having fun with the streak as well, switching its name “Windians” and adding a “W” for each victory.

Right-hander Mike Clevinger takes the mound making a bid for history against Tigers righty Buck Farmer. First pitch is set for 12:10. And with Slider’s excuse note, there’s no reason for fans to miss out. Expect the ballpark to be at full capacity.
