The New York Yankees have been cautious with Aaron Judge since the star returned from injury. He’s been in and out of the lineup, but Judge will surely begin seeing more consistent playing time soon. So, is Aaron Judge playing in today’s game vs. the New York Mets?

Here’s everything we know about Aaron Judge’s status for today’s Mets and Yankees game at Yankee Stadium.

Is Aaron Judge in Yankees’ lineup?

The Yankees released their lineup on Saturday morning. Judge is indeed in the lineup, but he’s not playing the field today. Rather, the slugger will hit second and be the designated hitter.

The 34-year-old is hitting .250/.374/.522 across 62 total games played this season. He has 17 home runs as well. Judge has recorded a .300 batting average (3-10) in three games since returning from the injured list.

Left-handed pitcher Zac Thornton (3-5, 3.53 ERA) is starting for the Mets, so right-handed hitter Paul Goldschmidt is playing first base and leading off. Amed Rosario, who also hits right-handed, will play third base and hit fifth. Anthony Volpe, who has been swinging the bat well since returning from the minor leagues, will remain in the lineup and hit eighth while playing second base.

Meanwhile, Gerrit Cole (8-8, 3.41 ERA) is set to start for New York. Cole made his return from Tommy John surgery recovery earlier in the season. He is now built up to work deep into games and should be ready to make a significant impact in the postseason.

As for the question of if Aaron Judge is playing today, the answer is yes. The Yankees will host the Mets at 1:35 PM ET on Saturday afternoon.
