The Seattle Mariners put together a solid team on paper heading into the 2022 season.

They acquired Adam Frazier from the San Diego Padres and Eugenio Suarez and Jesse Winker from the Cincinnati Reds.

They also signed Robbie Ray to a five-year, $115 million contract to shore up their rotation.

However, the Mariners have not started off well.

They currently sit at 16-21 and in fourth place in the American League West division, eight games behind the first-place Houston Astros.

Injuries have played a role in that, but disappointing performances from players such as Jarred Kelenic have also contributed to their struggles.

One Mariners insider points out that there are some big names on the Triple-A roster right now, names that were seen as potential building blocks for the future of the team.

Underperforming Stars

The problem with players such as Kelenic and Evan White has been their hitting.

The problem with players such as Kyle Lewis has been staying healthy.

But these are some big names on the minor league roster.

These are guys the Mariners planned on building around in the future as they realized their goals to become a contending ballclub.

But many of these players have either not performed up to par or have struggled with their health.

The team is still a good one on paper, but it could be even better if it had gotten contributions from some the guys who are still on the Triple-A roster.

This is a team that has underachieved, and the fact that certain players such as the ones mentioned in the tweet have also underperformed is a big reason why.

Things could be a lot different if these guys were producing.
