Schwarber belted a 0-2 fastball from Cody Poteet 413 feet to center field for his second home run of the game. The blast extended Washington’s lead to 4-0.
This is Schwarber’s fourth multi-home run game since June 12 when he was pegged leadoff hitter. In total, he has 12 home runs and 23 RBI in 13 games as Washington’s leadoff hitter this season.

The only player with more is Shawn Green (9 HR, 2002).
Schwarber has been lightning in a bottle for the Nationals. He has plugged a glaring need for the club. He doesn’t steal bases or get on them the conventional way for a leadoff hitter. Instead, the slugger just keeps blasting home runs.
Schwarber is now one home run shy of tying the Nats franchise mark for most home runs in a month, trailing only Bryce Harper’s 13.
Update: Kyle Schwarber's 12 homers already are a club record for June. He's only 1 away from Bryce Harper's record for any month (13 in May 2015). https://t.co/st5q0Vbp6T

Keep in mind, Schwarber didn’t hit a home run in the month until June 13.
The two homers Thursday has propelled Schwarber to second in MLB this season in home runs with 21.
