A group of Philadelphia Phillies fans drew the ire of New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone by blowing airhorns outside Citizens Bank Park during Thursday’s game whenever a Bronx Bomber was at the plate.

On Friday morning, the crew made an appearance on Philly sports talk radio and identified themselves as the “The Phandemic Krew.”

Boone emerged from the dugout during the third inning of the team’s 5-4 loss to confront umpires about the incessant airhorn-blowing. The Yankees skipper even pointed out the fans behind the disruption, who were standing outside a ballpark gate.

Two members of The Phandemic Krew appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic Friday morning to discuss their antics. The duo pulled no punches, either, when brutally mocking Boone. Oscar painted the scene to host Marc Farzetta, as transcribed by NBC Sports Philadelphia.

OSCAR: When I was doing it, we were kinda laughing about it, like we did it when Stanton was batting. And they had the TVs out there for us, they put the TVs out there for us, and I was like, ‘Yo, I think Boone’s complaining about us.’ And someone was like, ‘They just tweeted about us, complaining about us.’ So right away we were like, ‘Yo, Boone!’

FARZETTA: Was it a point of pride when you realized you’re a Philadelpha fan, who’s not allowed to be in the stadium, and you were still having an impact and getting in the manager’s head?

OSCAR: That’s definitely a point of pride. I mean, you’re talking about Boone, last year they were ‘savages’, and now they’re crying about airhorns. It’s definitely some pride, and listen, there’s no stopping us. We’re still going to be out here for the rest of the season.

Oscar’s allusion to “savages” is a reference to how Boone colorfully described Yankees players when he was ejected in a game against the Rays last season for arguing balls and strikes.

It remains to be seen whether “The Phandemic Krew” will continue to annoy opposing teams during the abbreviated 2020 season, or if the crew will be ushered away from outside of the ballpark. One thing is certain, though: They clearly annoyed Boone and the Yankees for one memorable night.
