More bullpen reinforcements are on the way for the New York Mets. On Thursday morning, the Mets made a series of roster moves, calling up right-hander Ty Adcock and left-hander Génesis Cabrera from Triple-A Syracuse.
It's no secret that bullpen has been a major weakness for the New York Mets despite their impressive turnaround. As a result, the team has shuffled depth arms back-and-forth from the minor leagues with the hope of finding some reliability from unlikely candidates.
The only two things rarer in modern-day baseball than the four-homer game is the Triple Crown and the unassisted triple play. The former is, of course, done over an entire season, while there's a large level of lucky in the unassisted triple play.
Adcock has spent the year in Triple-A thus far. Ahead of their second and finale game of their series against the Yankees at Citi Field, the Mets placed right-handed relief pitcher Drew Smith on the injured list with a sprained right elbow and called up fellow right-handed reliever Ty Adcock to take his place on the active roster.
The Mets have gone through their fair share of relievers this season between injuries and poor performance. On Thursday, the blue and orange looked to add some help and claimed a right-handed relief pitcher off of waivers.
The Mets announced that right-hander Ty Adcock has been claimed off waivers from the Tigers and been optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. The righty had been designated for assignment by Detroit on the weekend.
The Tigers have claimed right-hander Ty Adcock off waivers from the Mariners, per announcements from both clubs. The Tigers had an open 40-man roster spot and won’t need to make a corresponding move.
Trying to find the why in the suffering Dear Ty Adcock, We don’t usually address the 40 in 40s to the actual subject, but I hope you’ll forgive me, even though it’s your first inclusion in the 40 in 40 series.
