The Kevin Durant saga continues to drag on and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight, as the Brooklyn Nets don’t seem to be in any hurry to trade away their disgruntled superstar. Despite the lack of movement around a potential trade, Durant has dominated the headlines as you can imagine and some players are also keeping tabs on the situation.

The Miami Heat were listed as one of his preferred destinations when he initially requested the trade and guard Max Strus recently admitted he has been keeping an eye on the trade rumors surrounding the team.

via Miami Herald:

“I try not to get too into it,” Strus said, during a Tuesday appearance at Jr. Heat Basketball Camp at FTX Arena, of the Durant and Donovan Mitchell trade rumors that continue to surround the Heat. “Obviously you see it, and people ask you about it. But I’ll wait until it happens. If something happens, it happens."

“But, yeah, how can you not want a guy like Kevin Durant? He’s a once-in-a-generation type player and great player in the game and one of the best of all time. I’m excited to see what happens and I hope the best for him and the best for our team, that’s all that really matters.”

Well as Strus said right there, how can you not want a guy like Kevin Durant? Finding a way to get him is a different story altogether and the Heat like the rest of the league, are having a hard time putting together a package that the Nets would like.

As a trade for Durant seems unlikely, it would then make sense why there are rumors linking Donovan Mitchell to the Heat. Mitchell would command a significantly smaller haul than Durant but as per Jake Fischer, KD remains the top priority for the Heat despite the difficulty involved in getting a deal over the line. Miami desperately needs some firepower on offense and who better than Kevin Durant to provide it after all.
