We're just 2 days into the NBA season, and we already have a contender for game of the season. The Boston Celtics arrived at Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks. In a thrilling double-overtime affair, the Knicks vanquished the Celtics, after a Derrick Rose dagger to end the game 138-134.

The Celtics had a difficult night. But despite the loss, Jaylen Brown had an incredible performance. Brown put up 46 points, being the only Celtics player to cross 25 points on the night. Brown was absolutely incredible, making many big shots to keep the Celtics in the game throughout the night.

One player from the Celtics who had a slow night was Jayson Tatum. Tatum, who is considered the best offensive player on the Celtics, and their primary option on the offensive end, put up 20 points.

Tatum's shooting numbers were very poor, making only 7 of 30 shots, and 2 of his 15 three-pointers. Tatum shot less than 25% on the night and less than 20% from three. His shooting struggles were a big factor in the Celtics' loss, especially in the 2nd overtime of the game.

Tatum spoke after the game about his performance against the New York Knicks. He accepted the blame for not performing well on the night. But at the same time, he gave Jaylen Brown a lot of credit for the way he played, saying that Brown carried the Celtics against the Knicks.

"He carried us tonight...He was unbelievable. I wish I could've done my part."

Jayson Tatum has not had it easy lately. He put in a lot of work during the offseason on his physique. He has been focusing on his strength during this time off. But that didn't stop Donovan Mitchell from trolling him online, saying that he is going to get drug tested.

Tatum will be looking to put his performance against the Knicks behind him. With the NBA season starting, players usually look to get off to a good start. But perhaps, in Tatum's case, getting his poor performances out of the way early could set him up to have a good season going forward.
