Should Corey Kispert Become A Starter?

Every team in the NBA needs three point shooting in their starting lineups. If you look across the league, the teams that don’t have many guys that can stretch the floor in their starting five are the teams that we worry about. They’re the teams that have some cause for concern and know they need to improve. You can take the LA Lakers for example. They don’t make their threes as much as they should. They are heavily depended upon LeBron James even at the age of 38. He’ll be 39 in December, yet he still loves to attack the basket. That is where he is best at.

You can also take the Philadelphia 76ers as another example. Everything is ran through Joel Embiid. There’s no doubt that he is a top five player in the league. However, the 76ers haven’t won anything since the process started and it will continue to be that way because they are too Joel Embiid depended. Like Lebron, Joel Embiid is at his best attacking the basket down on the lower block. Both the Lakers and the 76ers need to stretch the floor more, take more three pointers, and make more three pointers. You need to take and make a lot of threes to win and be successful in the NBA today.

Corey Kispert may be the Wizards best three point shooter. He is like a microwave. Once he gets hot, he’s hot and cooking and it’s very hard to stop him at that point. Kispert may have been the player of the game for the Wizards in their 113-106 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. He made five of ten threes in the game, finished with 22 points for the game on 57% shooting from the field all from coming off the bench. Should Corey Kispert enter into the starting lineup for the Wizards with perhaps a more aggressive role for the team?

Well, we know basketball is a game full of runs. Often times, teams are trailing by a lot in the game and easily make the game a two possession game simply by making threes and going on spark runs throughout the game. Players like Corey Kispert are needed on every team in the league, specifically for the bench of reserve players.

Corey Kispert is in the perfect position for the Wizards and it may be the best position for him. By playing off the bench, he has a good chance to win the Sixth Man of the Year Award this season. He is playing against other reserve players. That gives him the advantage because he has the talent to be a starter honestly speaking. Also, if inserted into the starting lineup, his shot attempts would be limited playing alongside the captain and co-pilot of this team in Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole. Kispert has the green light coming off the bench and that is what’s best for both parties.
