Aaron Rodgers shocked the NFL world last month when he went public with his desire to leave the Green Bay Packers.

It had been something of an open secret that Rodgers was unhappy with how things were going, but the abruptness of his trade demand caught a lot of folks off guard.

Almost immediately, one of the teams that emerged as a possible contender for his services was the Denver Broncos.

As it turns out, according to Romi Bean of CBS 4 In Denver, Rodgers and John Elway have been getting mighty cozy as of late.

“I know for a fact that Aaron Rodgers and John Elway have had contact these past couple of weeks,” he said.

“I know for a fact they were playing golf together in California. I know that has happened even though that’s tampering or whatever, but how else does John Elway woo guys but on the golf course.

“I actually have this story corroborated on two different sides which is pretty wild.  One is from someone in the golf world who booked the rounds which is verified.  And the other end by chance I had a friend whose friends were playing at this club that weekend and John and Aaron came up and played poker with them, so corroborated on two sides and no one is talking about that.”

Elway is the President of Football Operations for the Broncos, and as such, many are now wondering if these alleged get-togethers qualify as tampering.

That’ll be up to the league to decide.

In the meantime, here is what is known: there are two serious contenders for Rodgers’ services. There is also one specific team that the Packers quarterback would love to be dealt to, should the stars align.

How will this entire saga ultimately end? Time will tell.
