Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury compares J.J. Watt to Tom Brady

Weeks after the Super Bowl LV victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin admitted that free-agency acquisition and all-time great quarterback Tom Brady gave those inside the locker room "the mentality of expecting to win over hoping to win."

Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury hopes three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and five-time All-Pro J.J. Watt, who recently signed a two-year agreement to join the club, can offer the same for his players.

"I would say J.J. Watt has the type of presence that you don’t want to let him down," Kingsbury told reporters during Thursday's press conference, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "You saw and you’ve heard some of those quotes come out of Tampa with Tom, and guys just don’t want to let that type of player with that type of work ethic, and that type of legend — they don’t want to let him down. They don’t want to be that guy that doesn’t hold up their end of the bargain.

"J.J. brings a similar presence with all he’s accomplished and his work ethic and the type of person he is. So I do think that can be a big proponent to where we’re trying to head this next season."

Those words combined with Kingsbury adding that he hopes wide receiver and future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald chooses not to retire and instead "plays five more years" offer insight into what type of culture the coach is attempting to build this offseason.
