Devonta Freeman may not play in 2020 after all.  Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Devonta Freeman is a two-time Pro Bowl running back in his prime, but it sounds like there is a real chance he may not play at all in 2020.

Freeman will go unsigned by the Seattle Seahawks after they agreed to terms with running back Carlos Hyde on Friday. Hyde signed a one-year deal that could see him earn up to $4 million. According to Michael Silver of NFL.com, that is similar to a deal that Freeman ultimately declined.

Silver added that Freeman does not feel he has to play from a financial standpoint, and he will not sign for less than he believes he’s worth.

Freeman ran for 1,000 yards in both 2015 and 2016, but his production has tailed off since and injuries cost him virtually all of 2018. The Falcons released him in March, and it appears that he might not be playing in 2020 at all.
