The best single-game QB performances in NFL history

There have been a countless number of great quarterback performances since the 1970 NFL merger. Here's a look at the 25 best single-game performances in history.

Young's Super Bowl XXIX MVP performance has to be considered the greatest game ever by a quarterback, given the stakes. He came out from under Joe Montana's shadow to complete 24 of 36 passes for 325 yards and six touchdowns in the 49-26 win by the 49ers. Young added five rushes for 49 yards.

Vick made a comeback with the Eagles after missing two full seasons while serving a prison sentence for dog fighting. Head coach Andy Reid was able to help revitalize the playmaker's career, particularly in Vick's 2010 Pro Bowl season. His best game came on Nov. 15, when he completed 20 of 28 passes for 333 yards and four scores and also had eight rush attempts for 80 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Philadelphia defeated Washington, 59-28, in the game.

Rypien and the high-powered Washington offense blew out Atlanta 56-17, with the quarterback leading the way. He threw for 442 yards and six touchdowns, adding one more score on the ground.

The Packers defense had no answer for Kaepernick in the NFC divisional round, as the 49ers won, 45-31. Kaepernick was effective as a passer, throwing for 263 yards and two touchdowns, but he was even better as a rusher. He had 16 rush attempts for 181 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Manning started his second season in Denver with a bang. The Broncos blew out Baltimore, 49-27, at Mile High as Manning was 27-of-42 with 462 yards and threw a record seven touchdown passes.

The Packers rested their starters in Week 17 of the 2011 season, giving Flynn an opportunity to shine vs. Detroit. He did just that, completing 31 of 44 passes for 480 yards and six touchdowns in a 45-41 win. The single performance resulted in Seattle signing Flynn to a three-year, $20.5 million contract to be its starter, only to be beat out by third-round rookie Russell Wilson in the following preseason.
