Trevor Lawrence, Micah Parsons open as betting favorites to win Offensive, Defensive Rookie of the Year

Everyone knew the Jacksonville Jaguars were going to make Trevor Lawrence the No. 1 pick in this year's draft, so it should come as no surprise that he also has the best odds to be named Offensive Rookie of the Year.

According to BetOnline.ag, Lawrence is the favorite to win OROY at +325. Chicago Bears signal-caller Justin Fields has the second-best odds at +550 and San Francisco 49ers QB Trey Lance ranks third at +600.

Here's how the top 10 shakes out:

  • Trevor Lawrence (QB, Jacksonville Jaguars) +325
  • Justin Fields (QB, Chicago Bears) +550
  • Trey Lance (QB, San Francisco 49ers) +600
  • Mac Jones (QB, New England Patriots) +800
  • Ja'Marr Chase (WR, Cincinnati Bengals) +900
  • Zach Wilson (QB, New York Jets) +1000
  • Kyle Pitts (TE, Atlanta Falcons) +1200
  • DeVonta Smith (WR, Philadelphia Eagles) +1400
  • Jaylen Waddle (WR, Miami Dolphins) +1600
  • Najee Harris (RB, Pittsburgh Steelers) +1600

Lawrence enters the NFL after a stellar three-year career at Clemson. The 21-year-old led the Tigers to a national championship as a freshman and was 34-2 as a starter. He completed 66.6% of his passes for 10,098 yards and 90 touchdowns against 17 interceptions. He also ran for 943 yards and 18 scores.

As for Defensive Rookie of the Year, BetOnline.ag lists Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons as the favorite at +400. Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips has the second-best odds at +750 and Indianapolis Colts defensive end Kwity Paye is third at +900.

Here is the top 10:

  • Micah Parsons (LB, Dallas Cowboys) +400
  • Jaelan Phillips (LB, Miami Dolphins) +750
  • Kwity Paye (DE, Indianapolis Colts) +900
  • Patrick Surtain II (CB, Denver Broncos) +1000
  • Jaycee Horn (CB, Carolina Panthers) +1000

Parsons had a solid career at Penn State, recording 6.5 sacks, 18 tackles for a loss, six forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, five pass breakups and 191 tackles in two seasons. If his play translates to the NFL, his odds to win DPOY should remain high.

Washington Football Team defensive end Chase Young won the defensive award last season while Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was named Offensive Rookie of the Year.
