The NFL's all-time playoff passing yardage list belongs to Hall of Famers and Canton-bound passers, but a few Hall Of Very Good types are near the top as well thanks to leading annually competitive teams. Here are the players with the most playoff passing yards.Ā

The Packers traded Hasselbeck to the Seahawks in 2001, reuniting him with Mike Holmgren. Hasselbeck started 11 playoff games and threw for 2,741 yards. Hasselbeck's first playoff foray included a memorable soundbite -- before a pick-six transpired --, but he led the Seahawks to Super Bowl XL two years later. Hasselbeck's only 300-yard playoff games came in losses -- to the Packers and Rams in 2003 and '04, respectively -- but he tossed four touchdown passes in his final home postseason appearance (better known for "Beastquake"). That performance knocked out the defending champion Saints.

Not starting a playoff game until his age-29 season -- due to his naval service commitment and Craig Morton's presence upon joining the Cowboys -- Staubach made up for lost time with 17 postseason starts. The legendary Cowboy finished his career with 2,791 yards and 24 postseason TD passes, remaining high on the all-time list despite playing in a lower-octane era. Staubach began his playoff career with three wins to give the Cowboys their first Super Bowl title; he then relieved Morton in a dramatic comeback win over the 49ers a year later. Staubach's playoff high-water mark is only 246 yards, and he got there with his famous Hail Mary bomb to Drew Pearson to down the Vikings in the 1975 divisional round.

No one tops the younger Manning brother for yardage in a single playoffs, but his postseason appearances were too infrequent to be especially high on this list. Manning played in 12 playoff games over a 12-season period and threw for 2,815 yards. Eight of those famously came during two of the most storied title runs in NFL history. Manning's 1,219 yards in the 2011 playoffs stand first all-time. It is debatable if that is even his most iconic Super Bowl run, as the oft-scrutinized QB topped 250 yards in both the 2007 NFC championship game -- an overtime win in frigid Green Bay -- and in toppling the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

Moon elevated the Oilers from the NFL's basement, later piloting the team to seven straight playoff berths. These did not produce many favorable Houston outcomes, but Moon played in 10 playoff games and reached 2,870 yards. Moon is the only QB in the Super Bowl era to be enshrined in Canton without playing for a conference title, but he did deliver four 300-yard playoff performances. All four came in losses, with his career standard -- a 371-yard day with four TD passes -- coming as the Oilers blew a playoff-record 32-point lead in Buffalo. Moon lost his final four playoff games, the last of which was to the Bears in his first Vikings season (1994).

Now waiting an extra five years for Canton consideration, Rivers also may fight a battle due to limited playoff success when his time comes again. Voters in 2031 will see that Rivers finished a 12-game playoff career with 2,965 yards. All three of his 300-yard games came in defeat, including his playoff finale -- a 27-24 Colts wild-card loss in Buffalo -- but the Giants draftee-turned-Charger did win five postseason games. This included back-to-back wins over the Colts, the first of which featured three TD passes in a game he did not finish. This led to Rivers playing in the 2007 AFC Championship Game -- a loss in New England -- on a partially torn ACL.

Stafford will most likely climb up the board during the Rams' playoff bracket, and he is here on just 10 playoff games. The former No. 1 overall pick's yardage total sits at 2,996 ahead of his 11th postseason contest. Seven of Stafford's 10 playoff games have come with the Rams, after three wild-card Lions losses, and he has made the most of his time with Sean McVay. The cannon-armed trade pickup threw nine TD passes in his first Rams playoff foray, which produced a Super Bowl LVI title, and he shredded the Buccaneers and 49ers to reach the game's top stage. Stafford's playoff-best total remains his playoff debut, however -- a 380-yard showing in a shootout loss to the Saints.

19. Steve Young, San Francisco 49ers

Like Staubach and Ken Stabler, Young needed to wait a while before being handed the keys. Despite not starting a 49ers playoff game until age 31, Young amassed 3,326 yards. Young started 14 playoff games and played extensively in one more. His undisputed masterpiece came in a Super Bowl XXIX blowout of the Chargers, which featured a Super Bowl-record six TD passes to go with 325 yards. Young, who finished that postseason with a 9:0 TD-INT ratio, also eclipsed 300 yards in the 49ers' first NFC championship game duel with the Cowboys. Young's most impressive 25 yards came via the pinpoint strike to Terrell Owens to exorcise Packers demons in 1998.

Building one of the great modern-era QB legacies, Allen is still pursuing his first Super Bowl. But he is the only QB on both the career playoff passing and rushing lists. Through the air, the Bills' superstar sits at 3,359 yards through 13 playoff games. That comes with an impressive 25:4 TD-INT ratio. While the Bills kept hitting a Chiefs wall, Allen did his part against Patrick Mahomes. His 329-yard, four-touchdown night in an agonizing 2021 divisional-round loss capped a two-game playoff with nine TD passes and no INTs. Allen's career-high showing (352 yards) came in a strange shootout win over the Tua Tagovailoa-less Dolphins in the 2022 wild-card round.

An NFL nomad, Flacco has played all but one of his playoff games with Baltimore. Flacco's Browns cameo after winning the 2023 Comeback Player of the Year vote moved him to 3,530 playoff passing yards. Flacco played in 13 of his 16 playoff games over his first five seasons, guiding the Ravens to three AFC championship games. His zenith came in Year 5, when the maligned passer fueled Baltimore to road wins over the Broncos and Patriots before his Joe Montana-like run (11 TD passes, zero INTs) ended with a shootout victory over the 49ers in the Harbaugh Bowl. Flacco topped 200 yards once in his first eight playoff games; he made up for the game managerial stretch to wrap the 2012 slate.

Before Alex Smith and Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid had McNabb -- the Eagles' starter for most of the iconic coach's first 11 seasons in Philadelphia. Reid and McNabb teamed up in 16 playoff games, with the six-time Pro Bowler missing the 2006 postseason. McNabb finished his career with 3,752 playoff yards. He did his best playoff work at 32, leading the Eagles to road wins over the Vikings and Giants before engaging in an NFC title game shootout in Arizona. McNabb did his part against Kurt Warner, throwing three touchdown passes and 375 yards in a narrow loss. He also finished with eight TD passes during the Eagles' 2004 run that ended in Super Bowl XXXIX.

Bradshaw played 19 playoff games, reaching the postseason every year from 1972-79. Not finding his stride until midway through that stretch, the future Hall of Famer/FOX mainstay tallied 3,833 playoff yards. Bradshaw delivered his best playoff work in the late '70s -- after the "Mel Blount Rule" unshackled offenses. He posted back-to-back 300-yard Super Bowls to down the Cowboys and Rams. He also dispatched a statistically excellent Broncos defense for 272 yards and two TD passes in the 1978 divisional round, avenging a 1977 playoff loss. Three years later, he lost a shootout with Dan Fouts in his playoff finale, posting a playoff career-high 325 yards.

Aikman missed the 1991 playoffs with an injury but still played 16 postseason games. From 1992 99, the Cowboys made seven postseason appearances, and Aikman compiled 3,849 yards. A high-end talent not asked to win shootouts, Aikman thrived in the playoffs. The Cowboys combined to go 5-1 against the 49ers and Packers from 1992-95 en route to three Super Bowl titles. Aikman's best postseason came in 1992. The fourth-year QB passed for 322 yards in the first of the three straight 49ers NFC-deciding tilts and dropped 273 yards and four TDs on the Bills two weeks later. Aikman then topped 70% completion rate in each of the Cowboys' three 1993 postseason games.

Kelly led the Bills' turnaround beginning in 1988; between then and 1996, the Buffalo legend started 19 playoff games. This did not include two 1992 contests due to injury. The 11-year NFL vet racked up 3,863 playoff yards. While Kelly's best regular season came in 1991, when he earned first-team All-Pro acclaim, his top postseason came a year earlier. Kelly outdueled Dan Marino in a snowy divisional-round game, throwing for 339 yards and three TDs. He then dropped 300 on the Raiders in a 51-3 mauling. A year earlier, Kelly faced Bernie Kosar in a Round 2 shootout and posted 405 yards. The Super Bowls mostly went poorly, but Kelly enjoyed a host of big playoff moments.

Warner's career involved him teaming with two elite receiving tandems and Marshall Faulk, and his postseason resume is sterling. The Arena Leaguer-turned-MVP needed only 13 playoff games to total 3,952 yards. He finished with a 31:14 TD-INT ratio. Despite playing before the NFL's concussion-conscious era further restricted defenses, Warner submitted five 360-plus-yard playoff showings. This included all three Super Bowl starts, topping out at a then-record 414 in the Rams' win over the Titans. A year after nearly leading a flawed Cardinals team past a dominant Steelers defense in Super Bowl XLIII, Warner outdueled Aaron Rodgers in a 51-45 shootout. His line: 379 yards, five TDs, no INTs.

While Wilson's decline has put his Hall of Fame chances in peril, he has a host of quality playoff moments on his resume. Wilson has played 19 playoff games, throwing for 4,056 yards to go with a 27:12 TD-INT ratio. This includes a 385-yard rookie-year showing in an underrated shootout with the No. 1-seeded Falcons, a 325-yard outing in a 2019 wild-card road win in Philadelphia, and a 366-yard road loss to the top-seeded Panthers in 2015. Wilson completed less than 49% of his passes during a dramatic NFC championship game comeback over the Packers, but a 35-yard overtime strike to Jermaine Kearse remains one of the all-time great playoff throws.

Perhaps still the greatest pure passer in NFL history, Marino played in 18 postseason games. He supercharged the Dolphins' fortunes upon arrival and carried them to Super Bowl XIX behind the greatest passing season in league annals. Marino's playoff ledger: 4,510 yards. His masterpiece came in a 421-yard, four-TD showing in a 1984 AFC championship game romp past the Steelers. The Dolphins did not make the playoffs from 1986-89, but Marino helped them win three postseason games from 1990-94. This included the Dolphins eliminating the Chiefs in Joe Montana's final game -- a 257-yard, two-TD Marino showing coming off Achilles surgery.

Maybe still the most talented quarterback in NFL history, Elway rocketed the Broncos back to contender status quickly. The 16-year veteran played 22 playoff games and accumulated 4,964 yards. Prior to "The Fumble," Elway marched the Broncos to a go-ahead touchdown in three plays to hold off the Browns in the 1987 AFC title game. Two years later -- in the non-"The" Broncos-Browns AFC decider -- Elway set a playoff career high with 385 yards in a one-sided Denver win. Operating in a pass-friendly system under Mike Shanahan, Elway may have been at his best in his final game -- a 336-yard Super Bowl XXXIII showing to crush the Falcons en route to MVP honors.

Hard-luck losses defined much of Brees' playoff career, but Sean Payton's accuracy marvel accomplished plenty -- including a Super Bowl MVP award -- despite the late-career loss spree. Brees started 18 playoff games, 17 with the Saints, and threw for 5,366 yards. The NFL's 5,000-yard season king delivered a preposterous three straight 400-yard passing games from 2010-11, showing against a stacked San Francisco defense -- in a divisional-round classic -- he could thrive outdoors as well. Brees tallied 288 yards in Super Bowl XLIV and, in an overlooked performance, sliced up the Panthers for 376 in the 2017 wild-card round as the Saints launched another title window.

Montana started 23 playoff games but was knocked out of three and benched in one. Still, the four-time Super Bowl champion became his era's defining passer with 5,772 playoff yards and 45 touchdowns. When discussing Montana, 1989 must be mentioned first. After an MVP season, the West Coast Offense maestro posted an 11:0 TD-INT ratio in a postseason that concluded with a 297-yard, five-TD demolition of the Broncos. His "there's John Candy" drive a year earlier hiked his game total to 357 in Super Bowl XXIII's classic Bengals rematch. Montana also delivered two comeback wins as a Chief, the second in a 299-yard showing as Kansas City ended Houston's 11-game win streak in the 1993 divisional round.

6. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Jay Biggerstaff-Imagn Images
While 2025 did not go well for Mahomes, his early-career work trails no one. The Chiefs megastar's stratospheric start included seven straight AFC championship game berths and five Super Bowl trips. Mahomes exited a rough Super Bowl LIX with 5,814 career yards and a 46:10 TD-INT ratio. For drama, there was Mahomes' 378-yard, three-TD performance in the "13 seconds" game; for explosiveness, we have the 24-point comeback over Houston that ended with 321 yards and five TD passes in a 51-31 drubbing. The Buffalo tormentor has only one 300-yard Super Bowl, but the clutch overtime drive bumped him to 333 in the Super Bowl LVIII classic.

The Packers knew what they were doing when they pilfered Favre from the Falcons; the Atlanta second-round pick played in 24 playoff games and finished with 5,855 yards. This spanned a 17-season period. Favre twice eclipsed 300 yards in losses to the Cowboys and finished with 246 in his Super Bowl XXXI-winning performance. He outdueled Matt Hasselbeck with 319 yards in the Pack's overtime finish -- after Hasselbeck's famous OT intro line -- and went 4-1 against the 49ers. While Favre's last playoff pass epitomized his late-career gunslinger mentality, he still threw for 310 yards before the Tracy Porter pick doomed the Vikings in the 2009 NFC title game.

4. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Favre's successor: also good. After a 6-10 2008 QB1 debut, Rodgers began a streak of eight straight playoff seasons. He enters the 2025 bracket having started 21 playoff games and thrown for 5,894 yards. The efficiency savant's playoff debut -- a 51-45 wild-card loss to the Cardinals -- remains his yardage high (423). A year later, Rodgers delivered a forgotten gem by mincing the No. 1-seeded Falcons defense for 366 yards and three TDs. He cleared 300 in Super Bowl XLV three weeks later. A year after a two-Hail Mary Cardinals showing, Rodgers proved too much for the top-seeded Cowboys by reaching 355 yards -- including an all-time dime to Jared Cook -- in a Round 2 thriller.
Jay Biggerstaff-Imagn Images
Seeing Roethlisberger over Rodgers is a bit unexpected, but the longtime Steelers starter did suit up for 23 playoff games that spanned 18 seasons. Roethlisberger retired at 5,972 yards, with two late-career performances helping him into third (though the now-Steeler Rodgers is fast approaching). Big Ben's completion record game against the Browns (47, in the 2020 wild-card round) included 501 yards (second in postseason history). Three years prior, a failed comeback against the Jaguars produced 469. Roethlisberger also did his part against a dominant Denver defense in the 2015 second round, going for 339 without Antonio Brown -- a player who elevated the QB considerably during his career's middle portion -- in a close loss.

Manning and his top rival are on their own tiers for playoff yardage. The Sheriff started 27 playoff games and produced 7,339 yards. Manning's best playoff work came against his future team. In consecutive wild-card rounds, the then-Colts centerpiece shredded the Broncos' defense for a combined 835 yards and nine TD passes. He turned the tide in his Patriots rivalry in 2006, erasing a 21-3 halftime deficit with a 349-yard showing to reach Super Bowl XLI. As a Bronco, Manning improved his playoff record against the Patriots to 3-2. His top showing against the Pats came in the 2013 AFC decider -- a 400-yard, two-TD coronation after his record-setting regular season.

Brady may have ended up with a losing playoff record against Manning, but his yardage total tops Nos. 2 and 3 on this list combined. The New England legend certainly had more at-bats than his peers, starting an astonishing 48 playoff games. The three-regular-season-spanning yardage output: 13,400. This included 19 300-yard games, highlighted by back-to-back 400-plus outings in Super Bowls LI and LII. Brady's magnum opus erased the Falcons' 28-3 lead; it included 466 yards. Against the Eagles in a loss, Brady dropped a playoff record 515. A year later, at 41, TB12 outgunned Patrick Mahomes with 349 yards to reach Super Bowl LIII. As a Buccaneer at 44, his 329 yards nearly erased a 24-point Rams lead in the 2021 divisional round.
