Caitlin Clark is still keeping close tabs on the Iowa Hawkeyes this season.

In their first campaign without Clark, Iowa is still a formidable program. The Hawkeyes are 9-1 and ranked 21st in the country, with their only loss coming to No. 19 Tennessee last weekend. On Wednesday night, Iowa scored its first ranked win of the season, earning bragging rights in the process.

The Hawkeyes defeated No. 18 Iowa State 75-69 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Lucy Olsen led the way for Iowa, scoring 25 points, while Sydney Affolter added 16 and Hannah Stuelke chipped in 13 and nine rebounds.

The official University of Iowa Instagram account celebrated the victory with a post captioned "Hawkeye. State," and Clark shared it on her own IG story along with a one-word response.

"Always," she wrote.

Clark's exploits in her final season at Iowa, plus her WNBA Rookie of the Year campaign, helped the superstar guard earn TIME Magazine's Athlete of the Year honor this week.

Clark was featured in a cover story in which she discussed a number of important topics, including what she has in mind next after accomplishing so much already at this juncture of her career.

“Personally, I'm just scratching the surface of what I can do and hopefully how I can change the world and impact people,” Clark said. “There's also been so many people that are not involved in women's sports, that are just in the workforce, or whatever they do, and they're just like, ‘Thank you for what you do for women.’ I've heard that a million times.”

Clark, who turned down an offer from the new Unrivaled 3-on-3 league, won't be back on the court until the WNBA preseason in the spring.

Until then, we'd expect to see her at some Iowa games this season as she roots the Hawkeyes on as a fan. Clark already made it to one contest and made some headlines for complaining about the officiating from her seats.
