Five takeaways from AP Top 25 women's basketball poll

In this week's Associated Press Top 25 women's college basketball poll, released on Monday, three unbeatens remain and nine of the top-10 spots change hands after an upset-filled week. Here are five takeaways from the poll.

UConn holds firm at the top as one of three remaining unbeatens

The Huskies (17-0) received all 32 first-place votes after improving to 8-0 in Big East play. All eight of those wins have been by at least 36 points, including Sunday's 95-54 rout of Creighton. As the only ranked team in the conference in this week's poll, it is hard to see the Huskies dropping a game in the Big East.

After a 91-51 blowout win over Texas A&M on Sunday, Vanderbilt (17-0), up two spots to No. 5, achieved its highest ranking since 2002, while Texas Tech (18-0) holds steady at No. 17 amid the best start in program history.

LSU jumps six spots as SEC continues to dominate the poll

After dropping each of their first two conference games, the Tigers (16-2) move up six spots to No. 6 after upsetting then-No. 2 Texas, 70-65, on Sunday. It was the first loss of the season for the Longhorns, but also the first win for LSU when scoring fewer than 80 points, thanks in large part to junior guard Mikaylah Williams' takeover.

Overall, LSU is one of five SEC teams in the top seven of this week's rankings, along with No. 2 South Carolina (17-1), No. 4 Texas (18-1), No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 7 Kentucky (16-2). UConn and No. 3 UCLA (15-1) are the only two programs not from the SEC inside the top seven, which speaks to its depth and how dominant the conference has been so far.

TCU, Ohio State make big gains

The Horned Frogs (16-1), up three spots to No. 10, join LSU as the only newcomers to the top 10 this week. TCU has responded well to its only loss of the season so far to Utah on Jan. 3 with back-to-back wins, including Sunday's 77-46 victory over Arizona State, the program's 36th straight at home.

The Buckeyes (15-2) move up five spots to No. 14 after a huge week from sophomore guard Jaloni Cambridge. She showed why she leads the team in scoring with a career-high 41 points in Thursday's win over Illinois before posting 28 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in an 89-76 upset over then-No. 8 Maryland on Sunday.

Oklahoma, Iowa State plummet after a rough week

The Sooners (14-3) drop eight spots to No. 13 after a pair of losses to then-No. 18 Ole Miss and No. 7 Kentucky. Oklahoma got behind from the opening tip against Ole Miss and surrendered a 13-point lead to the Wildcats.

The Cyclones (14-3) fall eight spots to No. 19 after suffering their third straight loss, two of which have been to unranked teams. Center Audi Crooks has continued her unprecedented pace with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in each loss, but it is clear she needs more help.

Alabama leads three additions to the poll

The Crimson Tide (16-1) enter the rankings at No. 21 with their lone defeat coming against a third-ranked South Carolina team to begin conference play. Alabama's 64-51 win over Kentucky on Thursday was its highest-ranked victory since 1997. No. 23 Notre Dame (12-4) and No. 25 Illinois (14-3) round out the three newcomers to this week's poll.
