Former Ohio State championship QB joins the high school football coaching ranks

Cardale Jones had a legendary run with the Ohio State Buckeyes

Jones, 33, played at Ohio State from 2013 to 2015, and in 23 games, he put up 2,209 yards and 13 touchdowns (seven interceptions) while also rushing for four touchdowns.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2014, he started the season in Columbus behind Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett on the depth chart.

Miller, a two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, was lost before the start of the season with an injury. Barrett took over and became a Heisman Trophy candidate, but he broke his ankle in the fourth quarter of the regular-season finale against the Michigan Wolverines.

That meant Jones became the starter for the Big Ten Championship Game, and all he did was lead the Buckeyes to a 59-0 win over No. 11-ranked Wisconsin.

He made the second start of his college career against the No. 1-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl, where he helped OSU win, 42-35.

Jones' legendary run then ended in the College Football Playoff national championship game against the Oregon Ducks, where OSU won, 42-20. Jones completed 16-of-23 passes in that game for 242 yards and one touchdown against one interception. He also rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown.

He's a college football legend, and he's joining a high school program that's pretty legendary in the state of Connecticut.
