Deshaun Watson has major hurdle in Browns' season opener vs. Jaguars

Deshaun Watson is finally healthy and ready to take the field with the Cleveland Browns and show that he's the right fit to serve as this franchise's quarterback. Even if he performs to his best this weekend, he'll need a strong offense around him.

Watson was in a tight quarterback battle with Shedeur Sanders over the offseason. Browns head coach Todd Monken gave Watson the nod to start, and he'll take the field against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

But he already has an injury hurdle in his first regular-season game with the team.

Deshaun Watson already has an injury issue with the Browns' offensive line

Watson just lost starting right guard Teven Jenkins, who won't play against the Jaguars as he deals with a back injury. According to NBC Sports, Cleveland will have rookie Austin Barber start at right guard.

The change means the Browns will have not one but two rookies on the offensive line, the other being first-rounder Spencer Fano at left tackle.

It's definitely never ideal to have two rookies starting for Watson, but Monken sounds confident.

"Just the way they've practiced, just what I've seen every day," Monken said, according to NBC Sports. "That's all you can go by, is what you see every day. And I haven't seen anything to the contrary that would make me believe that they're not going to play really, really well and confidently."

As for other Browns injuries, they also have rookie center Parker Brailsford questionable with a thumb injury.

Watson's completed 16 of 27 passes for 161 yards in the preseason, recording zero touchdowns and tossing one interception across two games, per the Football Database.
