Why Warriors should go all-in, make big trade

The Golden State Warriors did not get off to a good start in the 2026-27 NBA season. They started 0-3, and it looked like things could go sideways quickly.

But the team got its first win against the Denver Nuggets on Monday and hasn't looked back since. The Warriors are now 3-3 after a historic 25-point comeback against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.

Warriors’ future looking brighter than ever during three-game win streak

Rookie forward Yaxel Lendeborg has been sensational to begin the season, currently averaging 19.8 points per game and looking like the potential future star of the team. He didn’t do much on the stat sheet against Los Angeles (just six points and one rebound), but he posted at least 26 points in each of the prior three games.

Point guard Stephen Curry is looking better than he has in years, averaging 37.5 points over the last two games and delivering a vintage ankle-breaker on Lakers guard Luka Doncic.

With the vibes in Golden State reaching levels that haven’t been seen in a long time, it’s fair to wonder if the team should make a move. Curry, 38, is still one of the best players in the league, so it seems like a good time to go all-in with the pieces around him finally looking serviceable.

Guard Brandin Podziemski is averaging a career-high 16.3 points and 5.0 assists per game, while bench guard De’Anthony Melton has shown the ability to explode with the second unit.

Warriors should make a big trade to maximize Stephen Curry’s final years

All of this is taking place without star forward Jimmy Butler. He would likely have to be the one involved in a deal for the Warriors due to his tradable contract.

There don’t appear to be any disgruntled superstars at the moment, but there are still some impact players the Warriors could go after if they are serious about contending.

The New York Knicks are struggling to pay all the members of their championship team, so perhaps they’d be willing to send forward Mikal Bridges to Golden State. It could ship out center Kristaps Porzingis, forward Moses Moody and a tiny contract for the versatile wing who played a key role in the Knicks’ championship.

The Warriors have also needed a dependable center for years, so maybe the Houston Rockets would be willing to part ways with Clint Capela. He only makes about $7 million this season, so Golden State wouldn’t have to send out any valuable rotation players in a trade.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are dealing with major injuries to three-fifths of their starting lineup, while the Minnesota Timberwolves will be without shooting guard Anthony Edwards for a couple of months.

With the Warriors playing exciting, winning basketball, and the Western Conference looking unusually open, they need to go for it. Curry wants to compete for championships, and Golden State could potentially make it a possibility by making a big swing on the trade market.
