Paris Saint-Germain opened the scoring against RB Leipzig, but following the opening goal by Kylian Mbappé, the German side would score the following two goals to take a 2-1 lead to put a scare into the capital club.

After getting down 2-1, manager Mauricio Pochettino made a tactical change, switching to a 3-5-2 formation, and the Ligue 1 side would generate a goal and two penalty-kick opportunities, converting one.

PSG captain Marquinhos spoke to RMC Sport, where he elaborated on the tactical change and how it helped them secure the win.

“The coach saw the pattern of play, and it was difficult to hurry. We also suffered, with the Leipzig side, who were very high. We were always a little late to rush. We took two such goals, with their full-backs going very high and centered at the far post where they were still superior,” Marquinhos said.

“The change allowed us to have more security behind. And when you have more security behind, you reassure yourself, you have the confidence to come out more calmly, and that’s what happened.”
