Wayne Rooney has highlighted which of Manchester United’s new signings stands out most, choosing between Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.
Ruben Amorim wasted no time putting his stamp on the forward line this summer. The arrivals of Cunha, Sesko and Mbeumo have completely reshaped United’s attack ahead of the new season.

Cunha was the first to make the move to Old Trafford after United decided to activate his £62.5m release clause at Wolves.
Mbeumo joined later in July, with United paying an initial £65m fee for the former Bees man following a drawn-out chase that lasted much of the summer window.
Sesko rounded off the trio in August, arriving from RB Leipzig despite interest from Newcastle. His signing gave Amorim another option up front as he looked to rebuild the squad’s attacking depth.
After Manchester United brought in Benjamin Sesko last Saturday, the club gave their new summer arrivals a proper welcome at Old Trafford.
Sesko, along with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Diego Leon, were all introduced to the fans before the final pre-season match against Fiorentina.
Wayne Rooney shared his thoughts on BBC’s Match of the Day, praising the additions of Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko to Ruben Amorim’s squad.
But when it came to picking out one player in particular, Rooney singled out Sesko as a key addition ahead of Mbeumo and Cunha.
“Yeah, you would hope so [addressing the goalscoring problem],” Rooney said. “It was something which was very much needed.”
“I think it’s great that they identified the players that they wanted quite early and obviously they got Cunha in and Mbeumo in and then… I think getting Sesko is a really important signing.”
Sesko was involved in training with United on Sunday, and the 22-year-old Slovenian forward is expected to make his debut in the Premier League opener against Arsenal.
Speaking as a BBC pundit, Rooney focused on Sesko, noting his physical presence and describing him as a true “target man.”
Rooney continued: “I think as a target man, a No 9, he’s quick, he can use both feet, he’s good in the air.
“I think that’s a very important signing for Manchester United.”
The Red Devils return to action this Sunday when they host last season’s Premier League runners-up Arsenal at Old Trafford. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:30pm UK time.
