My New Hero, by Harpo42
It didn't feel like the most crowded I've ever seen the Bank, but they say yesterday's crowd was the largest ever at Citizens Bank Park. Early on in the game, it seemed as if the fans were a bit nervous, taking some time to get their postseason legs back if you will. But once Cliff got out of a few jams and was nailing first pitch strikes left and right, the fans woke up and the towels came out. When Werth nailed Torrealba at third the place blew up.
One thing that every single person at the park certainly felt was the electricity when Cliff Lee was on the mound in the ninth going for the complete game. It was by far the loudest that place has been in quite a while. And while I heard one sports radio caller say it was the loudest they've ever heard CBP, those lucky enough to have World Series tickets last October may disagree.
The "Let's Go Lee!" chants in the ninth were a thing of beauty and reminded you why you love this team and this town so damn much. [high quality video from the stands by YouTube user DP599 below]
I'd even say the chants were a lot louder a few moments earlier when he was going for the complete game shutout. Sadly, he missed out on that, bud damn, what an effort from Clifton.
