In the first part of our draft analysis we looked at possible big men the Celtics could draft with the 16th overall pick. The Celtics certainly need size, but they also need someone who can handle the ball. If there was one thing to take away from Boston's first round exit, it's that without Rajon Rondo the Celtics have no one to take care of the ball and need a legit point guard on the bench. Also, if Avery Bradley does not improve offensively, Boston could be looking for a backup plan at shootig guard. It's hard to imagine Boston using their first round pick for a player who won't see much playing time when Rondo returns or will be a platoon player at best, but it's a glaring need nonetheless. Archie Goodwin - SG, Kentucky, 18, 6'5", 195 lbs. Goodwin has all the physical attributes to be a very good SG in the league with his 6'5" height and ridiculous 6'10" wingspan. He would be a great running mate of Rondo's as he is fast a...

Shavlik Randolph has an option for next season, taking a look at whether the C's bring him back

I'll admit that I openly scoffed at the Celtics when they signed Shavlik Randolph to a 10-day contract in early March. I remembered Randolph's "meh" career at Duke during the middle of the last decade, and hadn't heard his name in years. It turns out he had spent the 2012-13 season in China, dominating the Chinese Basketball Association to the tune of 32 PPG...

Report: Chris Wilcox Thinks He May Have Come Back Too Soon After Heart Surgery

While Jeff Green‘s comeback from heart surgery was more highly publicized, another Celtics player was dealing with the aftereffects of a life-altering heart procedure as well this year. Chris Wilcox, whose 2011-12 season was cut short to have surgery on an enlarged aorta, was back on the court for training camp last fall and played in 61 games for the Celtics this season. But as...

Celtics GM Danny Ainge: We’re Not at a Championship Level

The Boston Celtics find themselves in a turning point in the franchise’s future. They have a solid, yet aging core built around the likes of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. They have a star point guard in Rajon Rondo, but questions about his future remain after he suffered a torn ACL earlier this season. Their [...]

The Times They Are a-Changin': Why Boston Must Embrace the Long Range Game

If you've been watching the 2nd round of the playoffs, one thing must be painfully clear: it's become a shooter's league. The Celtics have been a mid-range shooting club ever since Kevin Garnett came to town, but the 2008 championship team still was 8th in made 3-pointers and 5th in 3-point percentage. Not only did that roster feature Ray Allen and Paul Pierce in their...

We need Rajon Rondo back in order to get the good Avery Bradley back

The Boston Herald's Mark Murphy wrote and article yesterday entitled "Rajon Rondo the linchpin."  Murphy notes that Rondo's ACL tear will likely lead to the Celtics receiving only "trash offers" for him on the trade front this offseason.  Murphy also suggests that Rondo is a very attractive piece to have in attempting to lure free agents, mentioning...
