After collapsing in game 1, the Celtics will continue their first round series with the Knicks tonight at MSG. They need to win this one. A loss tonight would be a huge punch in the stomach. They need to focus for 48 minutes, not just 36. Here are tonight's five things: 5. MORE SHOTS FOR BASS: In Game 1, Brandon Bass scored just four points on two-of-two shooting. If they are going to win, they're gonna need more production from him. They need to pass him the ball. 4. MORE MAKES FROM KG: Kevin Garnett was terrible in Game 1. KG scored just 8 points on 4/12 shooting in the loss. In order to win any games this series, the Celtics will need consistent production from him. 3. BETTER OFFENSIVE REBOUNDING: In that loss, the Celtics were out-rebounded on the offensive boards, twelve to four. This can't happen ever again. They are gonna need some second chance points tonight. 2. KEEP PIERCE HOT: In order to win this series, the Celtics will need a lot of buckets from Paul Pierce. Pierce was pretty good in Game One, scoring 21 points. But that's still not good enough. They need more. 1. KEEP GREEN HOT: In Game One, Jeff Green led the Celtics with twenty-six points on eight-of-fifteen shooting. This guy's their leader. If he struggles, they will lose. But if he dominates, so will his teammates. Tip-off for this one will be at 8:00 pm ET. You can see it on TNT.

Doc Rivers: ‘New York teams didn’t treat the guests very well’

The Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls are sharing the same hotel in New York this week, which may not be a good thing for either team following both teams Game 1 losses on Saturday. The Celtics lost to the New York Knicks 85-78, while the Bulls lost to the Brooklyn Nets

Your Morning Dump… Where the Celtics need more KG

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “We’ve got to play through Kevin a lot more,” Pierce said yesterday at the team hotel. “He’s one of our best passers. I mean he’s one of the most unselfish players, so we have to do a better job of getting...

Playoff Playbook: Game 2 vs. New York

Showcasing one of the NBA’s most riveting rivalries today, this particular series has left a soft spot in the hearts of Americans across the country. In the wake of the Boston Bombings, one of America...

Celtics/Knicks Game 2 postgame interviews

Celtics Seeking Revenge in Game 2

After the sloppy play featured in the second half of the series opener, Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics will look to redeem themselves in Game 2 this evening at MSG. Turnovers plagued the Celtics late in Game 1 but the atrocious efforts put forth by the bench are what ultimately did them in. While Carmelo Anthony led the way with 36 points, it was the New York Knicks bench that...

Big Baby Reflects On His Time As A Boston Celtic

Does anyone else miss Glen "Big Baby" Davis, especially after the Boston Celtics have been pushed around in the first two games against the New York Knicks?   For all the criticism that Davis took in his four seasons as a Celtic, for all the "Shrek and Donkey" antics and crying on the bench, his game might just in fact be missed by this version of the Boston...

Comments from the Other Side - Knicks Game 2 4/23

Unlike a lot of people, after last night's loss, I'm not ready to bury the Celtics just yet.  They are down 0-2 but they are going home, where they play much better.   If they can win their home games, it's tied 2-2 and then they just need to steal one game out of the 2 left in NY.  I agree with Doc that the fouls on KG were horrendous and even the Knicks fans recognized...

Celtics Restart Storied Knicks Rivalry With Boston Linked to New York Now More Than Ever Before (Podcast)

Boston and New York have a long and storied rivalry, and this year, the two cities will be adding to it on the hardwood. As the Celtics and Knicks square off in a first-round playoff series, emotions will be sure to rise as the tension does. Paul Pierce and Carmelo Anthony will be doing their best to add another winning chapter to their team’s story of Boston vs. New York. However...

Celtics' Keys to Winning This Series

Hustle. Heart. Focus. This is what the Celtics need from each and every player for the rest of this series. They're down 2-0 and there is no more room for errors. Absolutely none. I really thought that the Celtics would be able to "flip the switch" now that it's the playoffs, but it looks like the bad habits they developed over the course of the season have...

Celtics Look to Bounce Back in Game 2 After Disappointing Result in Series Opener Against Knicks

Although they managed to keep the first game of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal close, near victories will do little for the Boston Celtics — who are desperate to sneak into the second round of the playoffs. Their NBA odds may have taken a hit with the loss, but has their morale? After leading through the first three quarters of Game 1, the Celtics seemed to run out of steam...

Celtics' lack of talent catching up with them

Nathaniel S. Butler/NBAE/Getty Images Celtics’ lack of talent catching up with them Just last season, the Oklahoma City Thunder went down 0-2 before rallying to beat the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. That is unusual. So unusual in fact, that only 14 other teams in the history of the league have accomplished the feat. In the NBA, teams that lose the first...

Recap: Celtics fade away in 2nd half… again

94% of playoff series are won by the team that leads 2-0. Those are some daunting odds facing the Celtics following tonight’s 87-71  loss to the Knicks. Sigh. The Celtics scored 23 points in the 2nd half. That’s a franchise playoff low. They shot 19%. They went the final 9 minutes of the game without a field goal. You can’t blame the turnovers (11) tonight. It was simply wretched...
