Scott Souza has the scoop.

While the Celtics did retain the right to match any contract offer to Glen Davis through the qualifying offer, Ainge said the injury status of Leon Powe - who had reconstructive left knee surgery after tearing his ACL in the playoff series vs. the Bulls - was a determining factor in the decision.

Ainge said Powe has been rehabbing with the team’s medical staff and will continue to have access to the staff, if he chooses, despite no longer being with the team. Ainge said he believed Powe was planning to continue his rehab in California.

The qualifying offer for Baby was expected.  The lack of one for Powe, sadly, is also not a huge surprise.  I was hoping the C's would offer him one, but that was based on pure emotion.  Danny can't be bound by that and... business wise... it's a decision the C's had to make.  Maybe they'll bring him back when he's healthy down the road.  But for now... Leon Powe is no longer a member of the Boston Celtics.

Man... it makes me sad just type that.

Meanwhile, Gary Tanguay said tonight on the air that Rasheed Wallace would be visiting Boston this week.  Tanguay's been on the 'Sheed train since the beginning.  Let's see how it turns out.

I think it was a good move.. as much as I love Powe, he how good he is athletically, he has too many knee problems and hes not 100% healthy... His injuires is what makes his trade value low.. and I dont think the C's want to be stuck with someone who keeps getting injured..

Mizzy, I humbly disagree. Look what happened in the playoffs without KG and Leon.

you could be right. I really really do believe we would have won if we had Powe and KG healthy. But I think Ainge is thinking about the future of the 09-10 season and wether we'd be dealing with this again with Powe being injured and being out during the curcial moments... He seems to have a history when it comes to being injured or being out. That knee is really hurting his chances. And Ainge just doesnt want to have to deal with missing someone right b4 the playoffs, like Powe and not being able to do anything about it bcuz its too late to acquire people.

But I do agree that Powe and KG would have saved us. Its just the whole keeping an injury prone person on the team is why I agree with him not getting an offer...

What about Ray Allen's age, he is no spring chicken.

true.. Ray is like going to be 35 by next summer I think. But the thing about Ray is he has OCD.. and is obsessed with taking care of his body... and that is why even with his age right now he's able to keep up...

I guess his health is a plus. But his shot seems to be a bit off, admit it?

I would have traded Rondo and Big Baby for Barbosa and Amare...

I do think his shot is getting off.. and its the thing that worries me the most... I dunno about trading Rondo... but BBD needs to go.. hes asking for too much... and hasnt been able to show that much, and wouldnt have been able to if KG was neveer injured in the first place. Scal is on the fence for me. Hes a great defender, but I dunno. Mikki def needs to go. We need a backup PG, so Starbury who really wants to stay on the C's would be a good fit. TA also needs to go...

I see dissent in the ranks. All you C fans talking about ditching Rondo! Yeah, that just paves the way for a back-to-back for my Lakes.

I don't agree with the trading Rondo idea. Never had since it first started back in june...

Poor Leon, y'all used him, abused him, and cut him loose.

I hate that he didnt get an offer, because he was such a good help o our team, and that he was a great great person, but I understand why he didnt get an offer... Im on both sides with this...
