According to Chris Wheeler preserving a lead in the 9th inning is difficult; in his words, "closing is tough." He continually blurts this mindless crap over and over again as Phils fans endure numerous blown saves by Brad Lidge and now Ryan Madson. If closing is so damn tricky, then please tell me how Jose Mesa has 321 career saves. Shut the f*ck up Wheels!Phillies are now 1-7 during the homestand, and have lost 5 straight. There's no positive spin to put on things right now because this team is pathetic. ~Carson

Dead Headline

When Ryan Howard jacked his majestic 3-run pinch hit homerun to put the Phils ahead on Saturday night, I had the next day's headline ready to go- "From Hospital to Hero". Much to my dismay Ryan Madson came in and became the goat. Things haven't been going too well in PhillieLand lately. With the way they're playing, it's hard to stay positive, but I offer...

Brad Lidge to Return this Week

Brad Lidge pitched a scoreless inning for Reading (AA) on Saturday night, and indicates that his knee feels "fine." Lidge has been indicating that his knee feels "fine" for most of the season. A good defensive play saved Lidge a run. Lidge is expected to return to the P-Phils this week, moving Ryan Madson back to the eighth inning, and (hopefully) Jack Taschner...

Philadelphia Phillies' Brad Lidge (knee) near return from disabled list

Phillies closer Brad Lidge expects to be activated off the disabled list this week now that his right knee is close to full strength.

Bunts and Balks (6/21)

Brad Lidge is expected to rejoin the Phils by the end of the week, with Scott Eyre returning by the end of the following week. This likely means a return to the "Plus Eight" bullpen, and some time in historic Lehigh Valley for Messrs. Taschner and Bako. Ryan Howard spent the weekend in and out of the hospital with flu-like symptoms. Hopefully, he'll be OK for the interleague...

Where's the barf bag?

Phillies fever turned into another tough pill to swallow. After sick slugger Ryan Howard gave his mates the go-ahead off the bench in the 7th, Ryan Madson gave it right back in the 9th in a 6-5 loss to the Orioles. The Phillies continue to find ridiculous new ways to lose at home, this time erasing one of the single-best storylines of the season. Suffering flu-like symptoms and a...

Phillies Bullpen Woes Continue

The Philadelphia Phillies had the game won. They had just came back from a two run deficit to tie the game at 7, in the bottom of the 8th inning. With the new closer, Ryan Madson entering the game, the game seemed won after the Toronto Blue Jays made a lineup mistake.  When the Blue Jays [...]
