Sporting News staff reports The Philadelphia Phillies are discussing whether to offer left-hander Cliff Lee a long-term contract extension, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. "Clearly, it's on our minds, but we haven't made a decision if we will yet," general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told the newspaper before Wednesday's Game 6 of the World Series in New York. "Naturally you have to think about it, but we're more focused on him pitching in this series." Lee's pitching in this series certainly helps his case for a big-money deal. The Phillies almost certainly will pick up his $9 million club option for 2010. After that, Lee can become a free agent. Acquired at the July 31 nonwaiver deadline from the Cleveland Indians, Lee is 4-0 in the postseason with a 1.56 ERA.
