It is no secret that I really love this kid. His attitude and work ethic won me over right from his first year as a Celtic. And I am an even bigger fan of his now than when he first joined the team. The tough times he has been through in his life have made him tougher and more determined to succeed.Kendrick Perkins was born on November 10, 1984 in Nederland, Texas. His mother was killed in a shooting incident at the beauty salon where she worked when Perk was only 5 years old. His dad, former Lamar University star Kenneth Perkins, left the family when Perkins was 18 months old and played professional basketball in New Zealand. Perk never got to know his dad until recently. His grandparents raised him and were there to give advice, direction and comfort. But his grandparents didn't know much about basketball except that Kendrick seemed to have an aptitude for the game. Perk is now a dad himself to Kendrick Perkins II and is determined to be the kind of father to his son that his...

Paul Forrester of SI.com has a good interview with Rajon Rondo. Here are some excerpts...On what he improved:[Coach] Doc [Rivers]
and I talked after the season. He wants me to become a better floor
general, a better leader. I've also been working on my shot and my
strength. I've gained about eight pounds; I'm up to like 187 now. I

Slam Brings Up An Awful Memory For No Good Reason
For some reason unbeknown to me, Ryan Desmarais of Slam Online decided to write yet another column on Paul Pierce and the night he was nearly stabbed to death. They (the scars) remind us of the police reports, of hearing
that Pierce was attacked by a group of men early that morning, of how
he was stabbed in the back, face, and neck a total of 11 times and had&...

BDL Ranks Danny 4th Best GM of Decade
Via Ball Don't Lie:If it seems odd to rank this guy so high, considering he's
spent years presiding over some pretty rank teams, I can understand your fears.
But this is a decade-long list, and while some of the men at the top of this
page may have better futures (and won't have to pay Kevin Garnett over $21
million in 2011-12)...

Boston’s Pivotal Player: Kevin Garnett
In basketball, as in life, leadership often makes all the difference. Leaders motivate and conduct, but perhaps more importantly leaders must inspire. Good leadership inspires players to have confidence in the leader himself. It is only great leadership though that inspires players to have confidence in themselves.
With that in mind it takes only one look at the Boston Celtics...
Constant Reminders
by Ryan Desmarais
You can see some of them every time Paul Pierce steps on the court. The next time the camera focuses in on his back, look just above the top trim of his jersey.
You’ll see two diagonal marks. They’re noticeable, but far from massive or extravagant. In fact, you’d probably think nothing of them if you didn’t know the story behind them.
But there is a story...

The more I think back to the 2008-2009 season and compare it to the 2007-2008 season, the more I realize how much was actually different. Like most fans I assumed that after we won, we'd just keep on rolling and possibly put together something resembling a dynasty. This wasn...
