PLAYERS: Angel Pagan
TEAMS: New York Mets

Now that we amateur GM’s are ready to get down to business fortifying the Mets roster for 2010, the one item that is marked ESSENTIAL is The Bill James Handbook for 2010 (published by ACTA Sports). You can get your copy by going to Acta Sports or at the book store or online vendor of your choice. When you’re curled up by the hot stove t...

A Step Behind

All right, so we're mere hours into the off-season, so let's kick it off by being impatient. It's so "New York Cliche" to be impatient, but I'm embracing it.How can I help it? Already we've heard that the Mets are scared off by Aroldis Chapman's asking price, scared off by John Lackey's asking price, and have already missed out on two players...

Don't expect J.J. back...

Adam Rubin takes a first look at the Mets free agents and possible non-tender candidates. Rubin clarifies just how much J.J. will get paid if the Mets pick-up his option and while I'd like to have an elite closer as my set-up man, that's just too much money. I was a huge supporter of the Putz trade but it might have been the biggest bust of Omar's era, he gave up seven...

J.J., Not So Dynamite, Seeks 2010 Spinoff

"All I kept on hearing in the streets of New York when you go get bagels in the morning was, 'Omar, please address the bullpen.' Well, to all you Mets fans, we've addressed the bullpen." -Omar Minaya 12/11/2008The only thing missing from that speech was a parachute and an aircraft carrier. And much like George Bush on the USS Abraham Lincoln, Omar Minaya at...

I’m Reading: about 1986, the Outfield, and Offense at Citi Field

Flash-Forward Friday: I Saw Everything End

"Welcome, Mr. Fry. If you'll just follow me this way, I'll show you your suite." "OK. This is kind of a weird experience. Can you tell me ..." "It's an adjustment for everybody, sir. We've found that it's best if you take things in at your own pace. Now then, here we are. After you, Mr. Fry." "Hmm. Not bad. Not bad at...

Opinion: Plans, Rumors, Ideas and 2010

In a post to Amazin Avenue, Sam Page lists 13 moves he would make as GM of the Mets, to re-shape the team for 2010. …i can support page’s plan… i like it… he assumes a lot, though, such as suggesting the Royals even wanting Luis Castillo; that the Cubs will want to acquire Jeff Francoeur [...]
